Frequently Asked Questions
Give us a call at (586) 991-5370 and we will walk you through the steps and answer any questions you might have—this includes providing vaccination records and setting up the temperament test. We encourage an actual conversation with us because you deserve to have all your questions answered!
We require the following vaccines: Rabies, Distemper (DHPP), Lepto (Leptospirosis), and Bordetella. We also require the vaccines to be in your dog’s system for at least 10-14 days before coming in. This will ensure a reasonable level of protection is established.
Of course! Our building and staff are always available for walk-ins. We do not require an appointment, and encourage people to stop by and take a look.
Once your dog has completed their evaluation and is approved for daycare, you’re all set to attend!
For regular daycare, reservations are not required. You can simply drop your dog off during our designated drop-off windows:
- Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM
- Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
If you would like your dog to participate in Enrichment Daycare, reservations are required and can be easily scheduled through the Happy Dog App.
We recommend arriving within the drop-off window so our team can properly place your dog into the appropriate playgroup and ensure a smooth start to their day.
Absolutely! We want what is best for your dog, and that is to be at home with his/her family. Simply make arrangements with us and we’ll make sure your dog is ready to be picked up and go home with you. (Additional fee for late night pick up after 7:30 PM)
All dogs coming into our building require up-to-date vaccines. However, dog daycares are much like child daycares. Even though dogs are vaccinated, they can still catch colds and other communicable viruses. Please note that we maintain the strictest cleaning and disinfection standards at Happy Dog.
If your dog is not well socialized with other dogs or people, traditional daycare and boarding may not be the best fit for them. Our daycare environment involves group play, which works best for dogs that are comfortable and confident around other dogs and staff.
However, we do offer a great alternative called Day Camp. Day Camp is an enrichment-based program designed for dogs that need more individualized attention rather than group play.
In Day Camp, your dog will receive one-on-one time with our trained staff, including activities focused on mental stimulation, exercise, and structured engagement. This program is perfect for dogs who:
- Prefer people over other dogs
- Are not well socialized
- Become overwhelmed in group settings
- Need more structured activity during the day
Day Camp allows your dog to enjoy a full day of enrichment and exercise in a safe, controlled environment tailored to their comfort level.
Yes! We furnish bowls, cots, blankets, and even treats for all our boarding dogs, but we encourage parents to bring dog beds, blankets, and even an owner’s article of clothing from home to make your dog more comfortable.
Yes! Our kennel area is always cool in the summer and toasty in the winter.
Dogs over 6–8 months to be spayed or neutered to participate in group play, primarily to prevent behavioral issues like aggression, mounting, and marking, as well as to avoid accidental breeding. Intact dogs can disrupt pack dynamics, cause fights, and trigger stress in other dogs.
Yes, we do allow late-night (after closing) pick-ups for boarding dogs.
However, there is an additional charge of $25 per hour past closing time, up until 10:00 PM. If your dog is picked up after 10:00 PM, the stay will be billed as an additional night of overnight boarding.
Late pick-ups are available seven days a week, so you can retrieve your dog anytime after closing if needed. We simply ask that you contact us in advance so our team can make arrangements.
